Scenes from three weeks of high school football

By Gary Lloyd

This Friday, I’m taking a night off from the high school sidelines.

I’m going to the Trussville Public Library to hear Sean Dietrich, an author and storyteller from Florida. Sean and I have communicated a little over the past couple years, and he even provided a blurb for my book, Valley Road: Uplifting Stories from Down South. It will be a night well spent indoors, as opposed to the sticky September heat. I’ll get back to that next week.

So far this season, I have seen John Carroll Catholic High School run past St. Clair County in Odenville, Here are some pre-game photos:

I’ve been to Briarwood Christian School, to see Chelsea topple the top-ranked Lions. Some pre-game photos:

Finally, I’ve been to Heardmont Park, where Oak Mountain and Hewitt-Trussville put up 83 combined points in a track meet. Some photos from that night:

We don’t deserve high school football.
