Former Clay, Crimson Tide standout heads to EMCC Hall of Fame

SCOOBA, Miss. – Former Clay-Chalkville High School and University of Alabama standout defensive lineman Quinton Dial is being inducted into the East Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame.

The induction will happen Thursday, Sept. 23 when the Lions host Holmes Community College at Sullivan-Windham Field in Scooba, Miss.

Dial is one of five members of the 2020 class being inducted along with five more from the 2021 class.

Dial was the 2008 Class 6A Defensive Lineman of the Year before playing two years at EMCC. He was a member of the 2009 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State/Region 23 championship team at EMCC. In 2010 Dieal was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American Second Team after totaling 76 tackles, including 3.5 sacks. Dial went on to win two national championships at in 2011 and 2012 at Alabama.

Dial was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent five seasons in the NFL with the 49ers and Green Bay Packers. Dial finished his career with 145 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Much of Dial’s success while in San Francisco was also accomplished off the field with his community service involvement. During a four-year span, he was a three-time recipient of the 49ers Community Relations Veteran Service Award. Dial was also active in the Bay Area participating in several team fundraising events annually in addition to forming his own foundation whose mission was to support underprivileged kids.

Dial now resides in California with his wife, Mika, and their two sons, Tatum and Jayden.
